Description
Heart-shaped nutella toast with berries and powdered sugar—15 minutes, vegan-friendly, and Valentine-perfect.
Ingredients
2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or brioche)
2 tablespoons vegan chocolate hazelnut spread (Nutella-style)
1/2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
Powdered sugar (icing sugar) for dusting
Instructions
Prep the fruit.
Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them into thin rounds.
Toast the bread.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast the slices of bread until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
Cut heart shapes.
Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut each slice into a heart. (No cutter? Use a small knife and trim into a heart—still cute.)
Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread in a generous layer over one heart. If yours is thick, make warm nutella by microwaving the spread for 5–10 seconds or warming it slightly so it glides on with ease.
Top with berries.
Arrange the strawberries and raspberries evenly on top.
Finish with powdered sugar.
Dust with powdered sugar using a fine sieve.
Serve.
Slice in half if you like and serve straight away (extra berries on the side is always a bonus)
Notes
If you want a smoother, glossier finish, slightly warming the spread first is a better way to get an even layer.
