Living an eco-friendly life is a great goal, and something everyone should strive toward. It's not always the easiest thing to do, however. There'll be the obvious areas to focus on, such as buying sustainable fashion and avoiding plastics. Then there's what you can do with your home.
Insulating and installing solar panels are both great eco-friendly ways to make your home nicer, but there are far more things you can do than you would've thought. If you want to update your house anyway, it's worth considering a few of these.
Five of them can be great options, as they'll be sustainable while still making your home look nicer than you would've thought.

- Use Sustainable Materials - From cotton tablecloths to bed linens, and even your couch, you'll have plenty of materials around your home. Not all of these will be as sustainable as you'd think, and it's worth replacing them with options that are. Thankfully, quite a few brands specialise in this, so you shouldn't have a problem doing this.
- Try Hydronic Radiant Heating - Hydronic radiant heating systems use water to warm up your home instead of air. This water is reused constantly, so you don't need to worry about wasting it. It also cuts down on the amount of energy you'll use up to keep your home warm. While it might take a while to install, it'll be more than worth the effort.
- Opt For High-Performance Windows - How much cold air gets into your home affects how much you'll need to have the heating on. If it's too much, it won't be eco-friendly. By getting high-performance or double-pane windows, you cut down on the amount of cold air that gets into your home. They're quick and affordable to install, so there's no reason not to get them.
- Install Sustainable Flooring - Not all flooring is made the same, and some are far more sustainable than others. Reclaimed wood can be a great option for this, as it prevents the wood from rotting in a landfill, and it could end up being much more visually appealing than you could've thought. There's no reason not to consider it.
- Get A Smart Thermostat - Energy consumption is a natural area to focus on when you're making your home more eco-friendly. Installing a smart thermostat is a great option for this, as it reduces your energy consumption much more than you'd think. You can control this manually, and even automate it to make it all easier for yourself while still being comfortable.
There are more than a few eco-friendly ways to make your home look nicer than you would've thought. Installing solar panels and properly insulating your house are just the tip of the iceberg, and you'll have plenty of options to choose from.
If you want to live a more sustainable life, there's no reason not to consider them. Getting a smart thermostat, trying hydronic radiant heating, and even installing sustainable flooring can all be great picks for this. Why not live a more eco-friendly life?
