Pimms was created by James Pimm and is a typically British liqueur. However, the Pimm's cup as we have here in this recipe is very popular in New Orleans, maybe because of its low alcohol content, meaning that you can drink it all day. Typically the Pimms No. 1 is used in this recipe.
Pimm's cups are great drinks to serve at summer gatherings, whether it is a picnic, barbecue or summer party. It is a drink that lends itself to being made in a jug and poured into individual glasses. This recipe provides the measurements to make 1 cocktail so, double, triple or quadruple it as needed! Of course if you have tee-total or non alcohol drinking guests you can make a non alcoholic version by leaving out the Pimms, replacing it with non-alcoholic pale ale, fruit punch or an alcohol free Pimms alternative to create 'fruit cups'.

FAQs
How long does this Pimms Cup keep for?
Because of the fizz in the ginger ale or lemonade this drink is best served straight away. You can keep it in a covered jug in the fridge for a couple of hours but it will be more 'flat'.
What can I use instead of ginger ale?
If you don't have ginger ale or you don't like it you can just swap it for lemonade.
Can I use ginger beer instead of ginger ale?
Yes, the two can be used interchangeably but bear in mind that ginger beer tends to have a stronger flavour than ginger ale. Use a dry ginger ale if you want a spicier flavour.
